Digital Mixed Media

The computer as a studio tool came into my practice in the late 90s and has evolved in many ways since then. It became dominant over the last several years when I was involved with imagery pertaining to two scholarly projects. I was researching, writing and working with a large group of people in "real time" and online internationally. The most satisfying (actually, thrilling!) Photoshop skills honed by this project (with the addition of a new technique I developed) resulted in what felt like a resurrection of individuals' faces from almost entirely faded nineteenth century photographs. The most satisfying studio leap was being able to make the largest mixed media gel medium and encaustic photo transfer pieces I had ever attempted.
