Prayers for the Earth
These images are unique multiple process drawings. They went through many stages beginning with selecting certain portions of my hand marbled papers and drawing into them with colored pencil to enhance areas. Next I scanned these portions into a computer and worked with them in Adobe Photoshop to create symmetrical frames into which I could later draw.
I had one enlarged image printed of each initially grey or faint frame on archival paper with pure pigment inks. Then I further enhanced all the shapes and negative space with colored pencils, adding imagery of insects and other small creatures of the natural world. Having designed an open center, the drawn imagery could enhance a mandala-like feel.
After having very small editions of archival digital prints made of these images. I decided to alter the original drawings to round/oval shapes and mat and frame them in black.
